On August 28, the first concrete pouring ceremony of the main plant of the expansion project of Units 5 and 6 of Huaneng Haimen Power Plant undertaken by PowerChina Jiangxi Hydropower was held at the construction site of Hongdong Village, Haimen Town, Chaoyang District, Shantou City, announcing the official start of the project. The project involves 2*1000MW high-efficiency ultra-supercritical single-reheat coal-fired power generation units, which is the first large-capacity ultra-supercritical million-watt unit in China to adopt the hedge combustion tower boiler technology, fully demonstrating the technological leadership of my country's coal-fired power industry. In the expansion project, key equipment including transformers, disconnectors, vacuum circuit breakers and lightning arresters will be integrated into the power system to ensure the safety and efficiency of power transmission.
The planned total capacity of Huaneng Haimen Power Plant is 61,000 MW (class) units. Jiangxi Hydropower successively participated in the construction of 41,000 MW units in the first phase of the project. Among them, units 1 and 2 were put into operation in June and September 2009, respectively, and units 3 and 4 were successfully connected to the grid in January 2011 and September 2012, respectively. The second phase of the expansion project of units 5 and 6 is a key project of Guangdong Province and Shantou City's "14th Five-Year Plan" energy construction. The construction scale is 2 1,000 MW ultra-supercritical coal-fired generating units, and high-efficiency advanced desulfurization, denitrification and other supporting environmental protection facilities including drop-out fuses are built simultaneously to improve the reliability and safety of the power grid.
The expansion project of units 5 and 6 undertaken by Jiangxi Hydropower mainly includes the main plant area building and foundation, production auxiliary buildings, plant area leveling, roads, fire water, water supply and drainage and other engineering projects. The project will adopt advanced process technology and equipment, such as an optimized switch cabinet system, strengthen energy-saving and consumption-reduction measures, and achieve green, circular, and low-carbon development goals. After the project is completed and put into operation, it will better play the role of coal-fired power in regulating and guaranteeing the centralized development and utilization of offshore wind power in Shantou. At the same time, it will effectively supplement the power supply gap in Guangdong Province, meet the growing demand for electricity in eastern Guangdong and even the southeastern Pearl River Delta, and help Shantou City further optimize urban construction and effectively promote regional economic and social development.
At the beginning of the construction of the expansion project of Units 5 and 6, the Jiangxi Hydropower Project Department began to optimize resource allocation, started construction at a high standard, and gave full play to the system management advantages of project management and engineering performance. With first-class technology, quality, and service, we will go all out to strive to build the project into a clean, efficient, and multi-energy complementary demonstration project.
